Dimapur, July 18: A two-day summer camp for Catholic children from Classes III-XII was held at St. Joseph Parish, Chumukedima, on July 16 and 17 with the participation of 160 children from St. Joseph Church, Chumukedima, and St. Antony Church, Tenyiphe. Participants were divided into two groups comprising students from Classes III-VII and from Classes VIII-XII and simultaneously conducted on the theme ‘Know God, Know Life’ and ‘Deepening your faith’ respectively.
The children had intensive yet enjoyable learning about the Catholic faith during the camp. The topics for the seniors included ‘The seven sacraments,’ ‘The liturgical year,’ ‘The Holy Mass: The liturgy of the Word,’ ‘The Holy Mass: The liturgy of the eucharist,’ The Sacrament of reconciliation,’ ‘The Creed,’ ‘The Holy Bible’ and ‘The Ten Commandments.’ The topics for the juniors included ‘We share God’s love for creation,’ ‘Ways to say thank you,’ ‘Jesus and Mary,’ ‘Our loving God,’ ‘Jesus forgives,’ ‘We pray as Jesus did,’ ‘The works of mercy’ and ‘Jesus loves the little children.’ The camp was conducted by Rev. Fr. Loyola Antony from St. Peter’s Parish, Kiphire, with the assistance of Rev. Fr. John Lichoi from St. Joseph Parish, Chumukedima, Bro. Luke and Bro. Peter from Good Shepherd Seminary, Dimapur. The Sisters from SABS, CMC, and Sisters of Charity congregations also helped to animate the children through their songs and party games.
The summer camp concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass. After the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Sajan Joseph, parish priest, thanked the resource persons, mothers from Tenyiphe and Chumukedima for food arrangement and especially thanked the children for positively responding to the programme.
