KOHIMA, JUNE 21: The Sümi Baptist Church Kohima is conducting its youth week with the theme ‘Unleash your potential.’ The program commenced on Tuesday at the local ground in Kohima town.
Attending the inaugural function of the program as the chief guest, Y Kikheto Sema, secretary to the Government of Nagaland for Land Resources, said in his address that God had blessed every human with different talents and gifts, ‘but it is we, who have failed to utilize it properly.’ Quoting a Bible verse from the book of II Timothy 2:6, Sema called upon the participants to ‘obey the rules and regulation of the game while also displaying true sporting spirit.’
While stating that games and sports bring unity among people and nations, Sema, also the chairman of the SBCK Board of Deacons, expressed hope that Nagaland would also be able to ‘achieve peace and unity through sports.’
The official also opined that the youths should organize competitions on Naga sports and ‘try to revive the lost work culture of the Naga people.’
Sümi youths from 10 colonies within Kohima are competing in the event.
