Eight wrestlers were selected by the Sumi Wrestling Association to compete in the Nagaland Wrestling Association Provisional Unit Championship in Kohima on March 6, 2026.

KOHIMA — Eight wrestlers have been selected to represent the Sumi Wrestling Association at the first-ever Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) Provisional Unit Championship, following the 1st Sumi Wrestling Championship-cum-selection trial held on Wednesday at Pughoboto Local Ground.
According to an update from the NWA, 14 wrestlers competed in the selection trial, from which eight were shortlisted for the upcoming championship scheduled to be held on March 6, 2026, at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground).
In the final bout of the Sumi championship, Avika Zhimo from Ighanumi village emerged victorious after defeating Pukiye G Shohe of Shesulimi. Inito Swu from Ighanumi secured third position after defeating Bosco Swu from Mukalimi village.

The eight wrestlers selected to represent the Sumi Wrestling Association at the NWA provisional championship are Avika Zhimo, Pukiye G Shohe, Inito Swu, Bosco Swu, Itobo Zhimo, Botovi Achumi, Hokito Zhimo and Ahobo Kiho.
The upcoming NWA Provisional Unit Championship will see provisional units under the NWA — Lotha Wrestling Association, Rengma Wrestling Association, Sumi Wrestling Association, Pochury Wrestling Association, Chang Wrestling Association and Sangtam Wrestling Association — competing for the title at Kohima Local Ground.
As per the update, the cash awards for the provisional championship include INR 2 lakh for the champion, INR 1 lakh for the runner-up, INR 80,000 for third position and INR 60,000 for fourth position. Losing quarter-finalists will receive INR 10,000 each, while all participants will be awarded INR 5,000 each. The best team will receive INR 30,000.
