Kohima, Dec. 27 (EMN): The Sumi Village Students Union (SVSU) held its 47th General Session on December 23, at GMS Ground, Sumi Village under the theme, “Learn to Serve” with Deo Nukhu, MLA as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the entire Sumi village community for extending support and cooperation to the students’ community in observing the 47th general session of the SVSU. He also encouraged the parents to care for children’s education especially at the primary and elementary level as much as the teachers do.
Stating that government service has reached a saturation point, he advised students to take up vocational subjects for self-employment and to undergo various skills and professional studies. Further pointing to the SVSU theme, “Learn to Serve”, he said, “let every student pursue higher education to fulfill the objectives of serving the society in greater measure.”
In his presidential address, Vihoto Wozah highlighted that the SVSU came into being in the year 1970 while paying tribute to its pioneers for laying a solid foundation. He also congratulated all the students who successfully passed in the academic year 2017.
He further urged them to take the responsibility to face the challenges ahead and be doers in order to achieve their cherished destiny.
Highlights of the event included invocation by Diwetso Lohe, Local Pastor, welcome song by Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School Students, welcome note by Tsasoli Tara, greetings by Nietelo Rhakho, VCC Sumi, acknowledgement by Muhuchumvü Foundation Award 2017, meritorious awards by Zhiwoto Rhakho, Educational Secretary, folk tune by Mothers Group, words of gratitude by Kupe Tara, Vice President, and benediction by Hovicieli Wezah, Associate Pastor Women while Kuvüli Wozah, General Secretary chaired the programme.
