DIMAPUR — Tovihoto Ayemi, Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Elections, said that the solution of the Naga political issue remains uncertain and is solely dependent on God, while noting that many have devoted time and made sacrifices for the Naga cause.
He made this statement while speaking at the Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland (AKKN) silver jubilee on November 16 at Samson Phu, Agahuto, Chümoukedima, on the theme "Reclaim our roots," according to a press release.
He emphasised that the Naga issue has one common objective for the Nagas, requiring a focus on a unified political vision and the aspiration for an early political settlement to bring peace and prosperity to the Naga people.
In this regard, he appealed to Sumi national workers to build networks with all Naga political organisations, setting aside differences for an early Naga political solution. He also urged Sumi GBs to play an active role as mediators and facilitators, continuing to build bridges within the Sumi community and among the Nagas as a whole.
He seconded a suggestion on the importance of forming a committee to research the migration roots and history of the Ayemi clan.
Emphasising that, as a union, they must consider how to bring the Sumi people together and promote reconciliation, he appealed to the Ayemi clan to be ambassadors of peace, unity, reconciliation, and upliftment, strengthening bonds and contributing to the Sumi community.
He underscored the importance of the Ayemi clan's relations with other Naga communities through their migration roots, aiming to foster more cordial relationships.
Tovihoto stressed that, to move the union and community forward, they must adopt the spirit of unity and love to strengthen community bonds. He suggested holding joint fellowships among churches to foster closer relationships and unite people through church platforms.
Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries and Commerce, said that they should remember and celebrate the pioneers and roots of the Ayemi clan, preserving their rich history.
She urged the gathering to maintain close bonds of love and unity among families and communities. Jakhalu stressed the importance of becoming experts in business and entrepreneurship to achieve self-sufficiency.
Kakihe Ayemi, Additional Director of Tourism and chairman of Tuku Kughuko Kuposhukulu, spoke on the theme and said it is essential to conduct thorough research and documentation of the Ayemi clan's migration roots to preserve their legacy.
He added that the Naga and Sumi tribes emerged through cross migration, according to research studies. Kakihe suggested that Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland, officially constitute a committee to research the Ayemi clan's migration roots.
During the event, the AKKN's silver jubilee stone monolith was unveiled and dedicated by Rev. Dr. Kashito Ayemi at Samson Phu. Tovihoto released the silver jubilee souvenir (1999-2024), while Zhevishe Ayemi, retired commandant of the NAP, launched the second edition of Ayemi Kughuko Xüle 2024.
Earlier, in his speech, chairman Howoto Avemi said that the first gathering of Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu took place on May 5, 1999, at the residence of former Minister Kiyezhe Aye, where the Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland, was established.
