Dimapur, August 11 (EMN): The Sumi Hoho has denounced alleged assault of members of the public, including women on August 7 in Zunheboto, by Assam Rifles personnel. The Sumi tribal apex issued a press release to the media on Sunday demanding investigations into the incident.
The governor of Nagaland is also requested by the organisation to intervene and take action.
The Sumi Hoho and its frontal organization are said to have conducted an emergency meeting on August 11 in connection with the August 7 incident wherein one Hito was apprehended by personnel of the 32nd Assam Rifles and was ‘subjected to inhuman torture.’
“The meeting vehemently condemned the barbaric inhuman act of security personnel as well as physical assault of ZSTH mothers who tried to intervene,” the press release stated.
“The meeting resolved to reiterate the FIR by ZSTH and shall request the concern investigation authority to speed up the investigation. Further, it was resolved to submit a representation to the governor of Nagaland for his intervention in connection with the 32 Assam Rifles misconduct against public on 7th August at Zunheboto.”
