Dimapur, March 16 (EMN): The 9th edition of All Sumi Games and Sports meet concluded on Thursday, March 16th at Kuhuboto. Akato Chophi, Kilonser GPRN-NSCN graced the closing ceremony as the guest of honour and gave away the prize to the winners of various discipline.
Speaking on the occasion, guest of honour said vast responsibility rests on the Sumi Games and Sports Association to discover the hidden talent among the Sumi youngsters and to provide a platform to nurture the sporting skills by organising such events. He therefore urged the association to be sincere and dedicated in their endeavour. Akato said such events were essential not only for bringing the sports persons together to exhibit their talents but also to bring the people together in friendship and unity.Encouraging the players to be able to compete and excel in the higher level of competitions, Akato said success comes only with one’s own determination and hardwork. He said there was an untold opportunities for younger generations to secure their livelihood through games and sports.
He was also of the view that there was a need to keep alive the traditional games and sports played and urged the association to also conduct games and sports played by the forefathers.
