Sumi Community Council expresses grief over the demise of founding member Kakiho Chophy of Sumisa.
DIMAPUR — The Sumi Community Council has expressed shock and sorrow at the demise of its members, Kakiho Chophy of Sumisa, UNB 'B' Burma Camp, Dimapur, on June 30 following a prolonged illness.
“Late Mr. Kakiho Chophy was the son of late Kikheto Chophy, GB, Akhakhusa of Khumishi village under the Zunheboto district,” it said in a condolence note.
The council mentioned that Kakiho was among the first settlers of Sumisa and remained an exemplary pillar of the Sumi community throughout his lifetime.
“His unwavering commitment, selfless service, and enduring dedication significantly contributed to the growth, unity, and welfare of the community. Together with his family, he hosted the first Christmas feast, reflecting his spirit of generosity and fellowship,” it maintained.
It further said that he was one of the founding members of the Sumi Community Council, served as its first banker, chaired the UNB 'B' Fellowship Advent Christmas Committee, and was an active member of the UNB 'B' Church Building Construction Committee, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing the electrification of the church.
The council stated that his demise constitutes an irreparable loss not only to his bereaved family and relatives but also to the entire Sumi community and the society he served.
"In this hour of profound grief, we offer our heartfelt prayer support to the almighty God to embrace his departed soul into his eternal kingdom of glory and grant the family the strength, courage, comfort and divine consolation needed to endure this immeasurable loss," the message added.
