Dimapur, Nov. 3: The Sumi Baptist Convention consisting of three Sumi Baptist Associations (SBAK/SABAK/WSBAK) held its biennial session at Suruhuto town Baptist church hosted by the Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu from October 27-28.
The theme for the session was under “Togethere We Serve”. The SBAK, during its session, deliberated the recent Supreme Court ruling on section 377 of the Indian penal code decriminalising homosexuality, and resolved that it will not tolerate any homosexual acts on account of its firm Biblical position.
The Council strongly urged the Sumi Churches not to accept the practice of homosexuality or same sex marriage in any manner. Meanwhile, the conference speakers were Rev. Hotokhu Jimo, Executive Secretary (SABAK), Niholi Shohe, academic dean, Nito Theological College and Rev.Kihoto, Pastor of Chekiye Baptist Church.
Khehovi Yeptho, advisor, art and culture and tourism, KT Sukhalu IAS (Rtd.), advisor, school education and Dr.Hokishe Yeptho, chairman Sumi Literature Board exhorted the congregation.
