
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland girls' team defeated Air Force School, New Delhi, 2-0 to secure three points in the Subroto Cup 2024 Junior Girls (U-17) at BR Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi, on Wednesday.
The Nagaland team is represented by Government High School Mereima, according to an update. It was noted that in the second league match, Xangyoa Konyak scored the first goal in the 20th minute. An own goal by Air Force School in the second half secured the win for the Nagaland team.
With the win, Nagaland now has four points and a match remaining against Sainik School Sambalpur on August 8. In their first match, on August 5, the Nagaland team secured a goalless draw against Home Mission School 1 Mizo BN NCC Aizawl.
It should be noted that only the group winners will qualify for the knockout stages. The Nagaland team is in Pool-G with NCC Aizawl (Mizoram), Sainik School Sambalpur, and Air Force School New Delhi.
A total of 34 teams are participating in the tournament, divided into eight groups, including teams from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, in the junior girls category.
The Nagaland team is coached by N Bijim Konyak and managed by William Koso. The players are: Lhuvekulu, Rokothono, Kekhriekuono, Xangyoa Konyak, Khuloik Eviphenuo Semou, Khrieletuono, Mhalo, Peteneinuo Khoubve, Leye, Sangki N, Medovinuo, Kekhrieseno, Medozhano Tsureishe, and Nounevino.
