Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): The sub-committee for working out the modalities for gradual re-opening of shops under Dimapur district held a meeting on Monday at the Dimapur Municipal Council administrator's chamber and submitted the report to the district administration for approval.
The committee has submitted the following proposals:
- The committee is of the opinion that there should be revision in the timing of the time slots for whole sellers and retailers as: 5 am to 10 am for wholesalers and 10 am to 5 pm for retailers.
- To reduce crowding in market places, it proposed that there should be closure of shops as per business category as below:
- Monday: Apparels, foot wears garments and sports goods
- Tuesday: Vehicle accessories, motor parts and lubricants
- Wednesday: Hardware including sand and bricks and sanitary wares, furnitures and home furnishing.
- Thursday: Grocery, food items, bakeries and food provisions
- Friday: Electrical and electronics including repair shops
- Saturday: Stationary shops, printing press, cosmetic shops and big departmental stores like Viraat mart, Vishal mart, Big Bazaar, etc.
- Salons, parlours and barbershops to remain dosed.
- Dine-in restaurants and eateries to remain dosed. However, home deliveries from dine-in restaurants and food outlets may be permitted.
- Vegetable vendors may be allowed to sell vegetables in the colonies/villages only and not in the daily markets. Those hawkers/vendors along the super market footpaths may be prohibited.
- The proprietors of the shops and establishments allowed to open shall mandatorily make arrangements for keeping hand sanitisers or provide hand wash provision with soap and water for the public as well as their own staff. The proprietor of the shop shall also get the door handles, surfaces and other objects which are frequently touched by people cleaned and disinfected periodically. Social distancing measures will also be adhered to at all the shops and outlets
- The issue of re-opening of market complexes which offer limited scope for enforcing social distancing like the Hazi Park (Hongkong market), New Market, Millennium Market, etc., has been forwarded to the government on July 17, with detailed modalities for re-opening and pending government's approval. Hence, the sub-committee is of the view that only after receiving approval of government, we may proceed for re-opening these categories of market places.
