Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): Naga students in Bengaluru are worried about finding employment once they return to Nagaland after completing their studies. They are said to have raised queries about said matter to leaders from the Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who are in the city for the Karnataka legislative assembly elections.
Visiting leaders of the state’s BJP unit threw a Moatsu Mong festival celebration on May 5 at Redisson Blu Hotel in Bengaluru, updates said.
It was informed that the students posed to the BPJ leaders questions about finding employment in Nagaland after thei complete studies.
They were asked the BJP members about what guarantee might be there that the students would be able to find jobs in Nagaland after they complete studies, the press release stated.
“...Minister for Higher and Technical Education Shri. Temjen Along replied that out of 20 lakhs population in Nagaland more than 1.60 lakhs are already employed in the government sector which itself is in excess and to accommodate more is very dim,” the press release explained.
“However encouraging them, he said Nagas need to be more adventurous. Instead, of looking for jobs only at home one should work outside the State too as we (Nagas) are talented enough to compete with fellow country man and also capable enough to venture at the international level.”
Further, the delegation was told about an ‘urgent need’ for a Nagaland guest house at Bengaluru ‘which will not only cater to the needs of the students but all the citizens of Nagaland who come down to the southern part of India for employment, touring, medical treatment and business etc.,’ the press release claimed.
“Replying to the gathering Deputy Chief Minister Shri Y Patton assured the student community of Bengaluru to look in to the matter and make necessary steps to apprise it to the state government level,” the BJP’s press release stated.
Around 200 Naga students attended the event, a press release from the party’s media cell on Sunday informed. Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, and ministers Pangnyu Phom and Temjen Imna Along, and Manipur BJP legislator L Susindro Meitei were among the BJP leaders at the celebrations, it was informed.
