Dimapur, March 9 (EMN): The Nagaland Zoological Park, Dimapur in collaboration with department of Philosophy, Patkai Christian College organised an awareness campaign on conservation of forest and environment at Patkai Christian College in Chümoukedima on March 8.
The programme was conducted “with an aim to provide enhanced learning experience for the students of Philosophy department as part of their skill paper- Environment Philosophy,” according to a statement from PCC.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Prabhat Kumar, IFS, director of Nagaland Zoological Park, informed the students on the importance of forest, wildlife and the relation between the two, besides highlighting the “threats and challenges that Nagaland faces with respect to conservation of forest and environment.” He also urged them to “take proactive part in conservation as youths of the society and also to be trend-setters for the same.”
Lansothung Lotha, RFO, Baghty, briefed the students on “Biodiversity: A Nagaland Perspective.” He presented a critical assessment on environmental issues in the state and encouraged the students to put more thoughts on matters related to conservation, informed the update.
Principal of Patkai Christian College Husazo Epao expressed his gratitude to the department of Philosophy of the college and Nagaland Zoological Park, Dimapur for organising the programme earlier in the programme.
A debate on “Conservation and Development” was also conducted during the event.
