KOHIMA — The registrar of Agriculture, Besuhu Dawhuo, on Saturday stressed the importance of punctuality for progress and success of both individual and society.
He stated this during the 29th general session-cum-freshers’ social 2024 of Thenyizumi Students’ Union Kohima (TSUK) held at the auditorium hall of Baptist High Higher Secondary School in Kohima. He urged the students to be punctual in order to achieve success by citing example of other countries, which value time and punctuality.
He expressed delight over the students' success in the HSLC and NPSC examinations and advised them to set goals and work diligently towards achieving them. He also emphasised the importance of obedience and politeness, which according to him, are fundamental values to excel in life.
He urged the students to prioritise their primary responsibility on studies by limiting themselves in other social activities that could hinder their growth. While reminding that student’s life is short-lived, he stated that those who put in the effort would reap the rewards in the long run.
Dawhuo further discussed the crucial role of parents in upbringing of their children in shaping their future.
Medothi Rhakho, chairman of Thenyizu village council, delivered greetings and expressed delight at the students' achievements, which brought pride to the village. He also challenged the students to dream big and pursue their aspirations with determination.
Vedechiyi Rokha, horticulture inspector, who cleared the NPSC-CTSE, and Nutsulu Dawhuo, assistant professor of Education, who cleared the NPSC-CESE, shared their experiences.
The presidential address was delivered by Avolu Theyo, while the education and statistical report was presented by Kekhruzo Kezo and the general secretary report was presented by Kehuzhoyi Resu.
A folk song was presented by the Thenyizumi Women Society and a song was performed by the TSUK executive members.
Meanwhile, the new TSUK team for the tenure of 2024-2025 would be led by Zhokhosa Dawhuo as president, Vehuto Kezo as vice president, Avone Swiho as general secretary and Akhone Nienu as assistant general secretary.
