
Dimapur, Dec. 29 (EMN): The 64th session of Shena New Students’ Union (SNSU) commenced on December 27 on the theme ‘Unity is strength’ with Engineer-in-Chief of NPWD, Kahuli Sema, as special guest of the inaugural ceremony.
The special guess, in her address, said the platform of local student unions play a vital role for the student community and that through such platform, students are trained and moulded to attain higher goals in life.
Citing an example from her life, Kahuli revealed that she was also raised from a village and her early education began at Shena Old village. She recalled serving as the general secretary in a students’ body in her native area during her student days and her long journey to become what she is today.
She urged members of the Shena New Students’ Union to be committed student leaders and to set good examples to their fellow citizens and villagers.
Emphasising on the role of teachers, she said that they must fully commit their service and give quality education to the students, especially the primary level, because it is the foundation that shall determine a student’s career.
On unemployment problem in the state, Kahuli shared that government jobs are not only the option because there are many other avenues for youths to get gainful employment.
She further said that there is an urgent need to speed up improvement on infrastructural development in the area and appealed all concerned to work collectively.
The programme began with an invocation by Kitoshi Achumi, women associate pastor of Shena New, while head GB Inakha Achumi delivered welcome address and SNSU president, Vilivi Swu, proposed vote of thanks.
