The election authorities have issued regulations as demanded by the nation electoral roll purification program (NERP) for voters across the state. The authorities issued a copy of the regulations this week stating compliance to a number of activities related to voting, registration, and membership by details.
The directives to voters include:
* Enrolling names in the electoral roll if they are 18 years of age and above as on January1, 2016; through form-6.
* Voluntarily disclose and delete their name in the electoral roll through form-7 if their names have been registered in more than one place
* Delete entries of dead, “shifted” (relocated), or absentee, or bogus electors through form-7
* Get their particulars in the electoral roll and EPIC corrected through form-8
* Voters can “transpose” their names to another polling station within the same assembly constituency through form-8A.
* Replacing “your poor quality/mismatched photograph” through form-8
* Submit their mobile numbers and email addresses to their block level officials for ‘easy communication during election and getting information on electoral roll related activities’
* Ensure one-man one-registration
* Avoid multiple registrations
* Citizens may check their enrolment status on the website of the Election Commission of India (www.eci.nic.in) or on the website of the electoral department of Nagaland (or www.ceonagaland.nic.in.)

Citizens have been warned that enrolment at more than one place is a criminal offence punishable under the Representation of People Act 1950 and Indian Penal Code with imprisonment or with fine or with both.
