KOHIMA, AUGUST 1 : As a mark to register resentment against the imposition of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and the Disturbed Areas Act (DAA) in Nagaland, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has informed that students will display/wear black badges in all the educational institutions in Naga inhabited areas from August 3-5.
In a release today, NSF general secretary Boveio Poukai Duo stated that the Naga Hoho, Naga Mothers' Association (NMA), NSF, NPMHR and units of NSF recently held a consultative meeting in regard to the imposition of the ‘draconian law’ in the guise of AFSPA and Disturbed Areas Act (DAA). “The house deliberated in length the appeals and petitions for repealing the Act by the apex Organisation on many occasions however, the government has failed on its part to address the matter. Therefore, the organisations in order to register resentment shall undertake 1st phase of agitation where students will display/wear black badges in all the educational institutions in Naga inhabited areas from 3-5 August,” the release stated.
The federating and subordinate units of the NSF will supervise the implementation of the proposed first phase agitation in their respective jurisdictions, it added.
