Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): Dimapur district legal services authority (DDLSA) conducted a legal awareness programme at Pranabananda Women's College, Dimapur, on October 4.
Summing up the programme, Y Longkumer, principal district and session judge and DDLSA chairperson, highlighted some of the basic legal rights. Pointing out that legal knowledge is for everyone, she said everyone should be aware of basic legal rights for safety.
Longkumer also highlighted on consumer rights and the procedures to file consumer case if one’s right is infringed and the limitation period of filing. She enlightened that domestic violence is a civil law for an emergency purpose, to gain relief, protection, restraining order as well as monetary relief.
DDLSA panel lawyers Tongpok spoke on 'cyber crime,' while Sentimentla spoke on 'basic legal rights, Zuchumpeni spoke on 'domestic violence,’ and Dzuvi spoke on 'consumer rights.'
The programme was chaired by Nishela, DDLSA panel lawyer, and the welcome address was delivered by the principal of Pranabananda Women's College. Altogether 370 students, teachers and staff attended the awareness programme.
