Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): Anti-ragging committee of the Immanuel College has organised an “Anti-ragging awareness day” in the college auditorium on June 15. According to the committee media cell convener, Akutu Poireng, the objective of the programme was to create awareness among the students about ragging.
The speaker and dean of the college, Loli Athisü, gave an introduction on ragging, which is rampantly prevailing outside the state. He said ragging in any form is a punishable offence under the law passed by the Supreme Court and supported by The UGC. He further dwelled on the impacts of ragging on the victims, how it could leave permanent scar on the victims’ mind and even ruin their career.
He concluded his speech by quoting an adage, “Life is hard enough, so just don’t go around and make other’s life miserable.” The programme was chaired by Ms Hrüzia Lazeo, assistant professor from the department of history, while the invocation was said by Temjen Longkumer, assistant professor of education department.
