Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): Teachers and students of Assam Rifles Public School, Kohima, have pledged to eradicate corruption, promote ethical business practices and foster a culture of honesty.
The “pledge ceremony” was held on October 29 as part of Vigilance Awareness Week observance in the school’s premises.
A defence release stated that a total of 18 teachers and 249 students took the pledge to eradicate corruption and promote ethical business practices and to foster a culture of honesty. Besides, the teachers and students took the ‘Integrity pledge’ to perform all tasks in an honest and transparent manner.
In a related programme, Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles organised Rashtriya Ekta Divas on the occasion of 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Ballabbhai Patel at 3 Naga Hill Battalion on October 31.
On the occasion, all the troops and civil staff took integrity pledge to perform all tasks in an honest and transparent manner and also to lead by example exhibiting integrity in person behaviour. A total of five officers, 18 junior commission officers and 149 other ranks attended the event.
In a separate programme, Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp in Kohima village on November 2.
The camp was organised with the aim to provide free medical treatment to the local populace by a specially constituted medical team under Regimental Medical Officer, 3 (Naga Hill) Battalion Assam Rifles.
According to a press release, a total of 136 patients including 42 male, 76 female and 18 children were examined during the medical camp. Medicines were distributed to the ailing patients.

It added that basic awareness on health education including precaution from common viral diseases was also imparted to the public during the camp.
Besides, Chieswema battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted an awareness programme on ‘Stay fit stay healthy’ in Chiephobozou under Kohima district on November 3. Altogether, 45 people comprising all ages attended the programme.
The Regimental Medical Officer in his lecture covered important topics on healthy living.
In yet another programme, Mokokchung battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a gram sabha awareness programme in Ungma village under Mokokchung district on November 2 on the theme ‘Say no to corruption.’ The programme was organised to commemorate the nation-wide Vigilance Awareness Week.
During the awareness campaign detailed discussion and brain-storming session was conducted with 27 representatives of various village councils and ward committees.
During the discussion, various facets of corruptions, ways and means to curb the menace were emphasised upon. Pamphlets on the subject were also distributed to the village councils.
In another programme, Zunheboto battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a lecture cum awareness programme on “Clean and Green Nagaland” at St. Clare School, Akuluto, in Zunheboto district on November 3. Altogether, five teachers and 110 students attended the programme.
The aim of the lecture was to impart awareness on keeping the surroundings clean and preserve the nature for the future generation.
