Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): The 3rd Mega Art Festival 2019 conducted an award programme at the Christian hr. sec. school on November 10 in Dimapur. The festival was organised by Chitrakala and Euro International School of Fine Art.
Speaking at the event, the principal of Euro International School of Fine Art, Sandeep Jain, who is also the chairman of the organising committee, said that the goal of organising the event was not just to give away certificates, but to motivate, inspire and show the students the careers in art.
Jain said the event is especially for students who are truly interested in art, adding that the event has been getting bigger over a course of time.
According to him, the event is one of the biggest art festivals in the state with over 1000 students recorded to have participated from 53 academic schools and 15 art schools.
He said the selected paintings will be going to the Hornbill Festival this year to compete on a bigger platform.
Students were awarded in five categories namely A, A1, B, C and D. Categories B, C and D were adjudged in three separate sections of sketch, colour and theme.
The overall champions: Dishank Chakraborty, a class-3 student of Holy Home hr. sec. school won the A1 overall category prize; Zaara Abdul, a class-6 student of Hope Academy bagged the B category overall title. In C category, Vikheka A Ayemi, a class-6 student of Hope Academy won the overall title and Apelo Kappo, a class-11 student of Holy Cross hr. sec. school was declared the winner in D category.
Another memorable feature to the event was the participation of a 9-year old boy named Rohit Mandal, a class-1 student of government hr. sec. school at Half Nagarjan. He is said to have Amelia symptoms. People at the event were inspired by his efforts and determination to face the challenges of life.
As a reward for his courage, Chitrakala and the Euro International School of Fine Arts have, besides giving him gift hampers, awarded him a one-year scholarship for his academics, and art fees.
