Governor of Nagaland and Tripura, P.B. Acharya was felicitated today by the North East students and various communities of NE in New Delhi at 29 Aurangzed Road, Nagaland House.
During the felicitation programme, the students and the representatives raised many issues and apprised the Governor on recent and the past racisms and atrocities meted out to Northeast communities and also the latest incident in which a Manipur Naga boy was killed.
Many of them had shared their positive suggestions for long term solution to such action and urgent need of the hour for the NE community in the capital as well as other parts of the country.
The Governor after giving a patient hearing on the issues raised by the students, had strongly condemned the violence against the NE community in the capital and other parts of the cities.
“We are not at the mercy of someone, but we all are equal. You should be very happy to be born from the NE region of our country,” he said.
Further, he also suggested for better linkage between college and universities, whereby the Nagaland colleges and University can make exchange programmes with other universities in other cities like Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia University and other universities in the country especially on dialect and languages of the region.
Our dialect and regional language should be to promote the interest of our great nation. Some of the community members who were either assaulted or have been harassed also met the Governor and shared their grievances. The Governor extended a token of financial help to those people who were physically assaulted and harassed.
The Governor expressed thanks for according him the welcome by the North East community in Delhi.
