Dimapur, June 20 (EMN): Continuing with its mission of community service towards the Dimapur traffic personnel since last year, the management, staff, and students of Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School (LFHSS) took part in a civic activity on June 20 by presenting hampers and snacks to the traffic personnel on duty in both Dimapur traffic zone-1 and zone-2.
According to the school’s press release, the activity was mainly undertaken to express gratitude towards the traffic personnel, who sacrifice their peace and comfort even in the sweltering heat and humidity of the summers to maintain smooth flow of traffic and to provide a better service to the commuters of Dimapur even in the midst of stressful job conditions.
The students and staff of LFHSS were divided into two teams for both zone-I (Dimapur city area) and zone-II (east Dimapur and Chumukedima area) and distributed gift hampers and snacks to the personnel manning around 15 traffic points in Zone-I and around five traffic points in zone-II. The team also had interactions with more than 100 traffic policemen on duty.
During the community service, students also interacted with the deputy commissioner of police (traffic), Yanithung Ezung and the officer in-charge (OC) of Dimapur traffic police, zone-II, Peter Shuya. ABSI Lipenthung and ABSI Bokato interacted with the team of students on behalf of the officer in-charge (OC) of Dimapur traffic police, zone-I, L Mhathung Patton.
The officials were also presented with specially made framed memorabilia as a token of gratitude and affection from the management, staff and students of LFHSS.
DCP (traffic) pointed out that they do not get much cooperation from the public as many of them were least concerned about the traffic rules and regulations despite the hard work and dedication put in by the traffic personnel on duty. He has sought positive response from the public for a streamlined traffic system in Dimapur.
Peter Shuya, OC (T) Zone-II, has advised the students to be more aware about traffic rules and to follow them diligently. He stated that more than five lakh deaths are reported in a year due to road accidents alone, which is more than the deaths caused due to wars and natural calamities. He also gifted the team with specially designed key-chains bearing the insignia of Dimapur traffic police.
