Kohima/Wokha, Sep. 29 (EMN): Assam Rifles battalions posted in Kohima and Wokha under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), Hq, Kohima celebrated the “Parakram Parv” (or celebration of valour) was held in different educational institutions in Kohima and Wokha districts on Sep. 29 where students were showcased briefed about the achievements of the armed forces, its activities and were also displayed the different weapons used by the Indian army.
Parakram Prav is being celebrated to commemorated the second anniversary of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces against militants in Pakistan occupied Kashmir in the year 2016.
Kohima
The 3 (Naga Hills) Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) celebrated the “Parakram Parv” at Science College Jotsoma.
The event was celebrated to highlight the velour, sacrifice and accomplishments of the Indian Army and also marking the second anniversary of surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the Line of Control.
The father of martyr Late. Captain Neikezhakuo, Neiselie Kenguruse, who attended the event as the special guest, hailed all the brave soldiers who were involved in executing the surgical strike in 2016. He also deeply appreciated the Indian army for helping the people during the natural calamities in the state.
Besides, he also acknowledged the support shown by the Indian army towards his family and said that the army has now become a part of his family. He further exhorted the students to work hard and be a service to the country, both in words and in deeds and encouraged them to join the paramilitary forces.
Maj Abhinav Chaudhary presented a lecture-cum-presentation on the topic ‘join Indian army’ and gave a brief highlight about the Indian Armed Forces and also on how to apply.
During the celebration, a documentary video namely “Special operations: India Surgical Strikes” was screened to mark the occasion. Exhibition of various types of weapons and equipments of the Army including weapon used on battles of Kohima were displayed at the college premises for the students and visitors.
Wokha
The 28 Assam Rifles and HQ 5 sector Assam rifles organised the celebration programme at at Bn. HQ, Wokha and JNV School, Chukitong. Fifteen teachers and around 400 students from various schools attended the event at the Battalion Hq. in Wokha while 9 teachers and 37 students attended at the JNV school, Chukitong.
A documentary of the surgical strike was screened for the students in both the venues which entertained and at the same time inspired the students. The 28 AR jazz band performed patriotic songs at the event and the students were also shown the array of weapons used by the army
The event was brief to “mark the second anniversary of the Surgical Strikes”, aimed at showcasing the celebration of the Valor of Surgical strikes in Myanmar and also remembering the martyrs of Uri terrorist attack.
Sainik School, Punglwa
The Parakram Parv was also celebrated at Sainik School, Punglwa “to commemorate the valour and selfless sacrifices of the frmed forces and sensitise the patriotic temperament displayed by them”.
A special assembly was conducted where two cadets -- Cdt. Sonam Rinchin and Dfr. Anand Kumar (NCC) -- shared ‘strike operations details like precision, planning and tough training involve and challenges faced on the ground and how successful operation was carried out with zero casualty.
As part of celebration, sogan writing and poster painting on the theme of surgical strike were conducted. A short motivational film on strike which depicts the valiant and professionalism of the Indian Army was also screened for the cadets. All staff and cadets took part in the celebration, stated a press release from the school.
