Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a national integration tour (NIT) for 18 students and two teachers from Jalukie and neighbouring area in Peren district from October 3 – 16.
The Assam Rifles, in a press release, stated that students visited New Delhi, Chandigarh and the historical city of Amritsar. During the tour, students also visited various places including India Gate, Parliament House, National Museum, Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple, Rajpath, Vijay Chowk, Nehru Planetarium, Cathedral, Akshardham Temple, Red Fort, Chandani Chowk, Leisure Valley, Botanical Garden and Rock Garden in Delhi and Chandigarh. Besides, the students visited places of historical relevance like Golden Temple, Jalian Wala Bagh in Amritsar.
The students also had the opportunity to witness the ‘Beating Retreat’ ceremony at the Wagah border at Amritsar.
The students also interacted with Maj. Gen. Rajpal Singh Punia, Chief of Staff, Delhi Area. It added that the Chief of Staff took keen interest in interacting with the students hailing from remote areas of Nagaland and motivated them to inculcate sound values and grow up to become model citizens.
During the flagging in ceremony organised at Battalion Headquarter on October 17, the students were encouraged to utilise the experience gained during the visit and imbibe the positive values of people from different states of India.
