The competition was organised by Zero Waste Himalaya Nagaland in collaboration with Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) and Green Mokokchung Campaign. Convener of Zero Waste Himalaya Nagaland, Thangi Mannen, during an informal programme, told the students not to think that they are insignificant to let their voices be heard by others. On the contrary, she urged them to raise their voices through the posters they made for a change. “Now is the time to speak up before the earth erode because of our selfishness,” Mannen asserted. She also disclosed that Zero Waste Himalaya Nagaland has initiated series of programmes in Mokokchung, Kohima and Dimapur sponsored by Swachh Bharat Mission since last month. She added that poster competition would also be held in Kohima and Dimapur. She said the culmination programme would be held at Kohima. Altogether, 34 students from five schools namely Lady Bird, Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, NI Jamir Government Higher Secondary School, Jubilee Memorial School and Town Higher Secondary School partook in the competition.
