Abandoned GMS building at Ngozubomi.

Dimapur, July 25 (EMN): Ngozubomi Students’ Union (NSU) and the Viyilho Students’ Union (VSU) have strongly supported the demand of the Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) urging the intervention of principal director of School Education to ensure early completion of the GMS building in their respective villages, which were left incomplete and abandoned.

NSU, in a press statement on Saturday stated that the school building project was sanctioned, funded and implemented under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) during the years between 2010-2013. The union felt that the SSA District Mission Authority, Zunheboto (DMAZ), who took up the construction work instead of entrusting to the school education committee (SEC) as per the government directives, had ‘insulted the Education department and the entire students community.’

NSU has urged the concerned authority to identify the culprits involved and to take befitting action thereby ensure early completion of the school building as demanded by ESSU.

The union further urged upon all the right thinking citizens and civil society organisations to condemn such act of negligence so that the culprits are named and shamed by the concerned authority at the earliest.

In a separate statement, VSU informed that it is closely coordinating with ESSU, school management committee (SMC), village council, GBs and elders to find out every detailed information relating to the obstruction of GMS building construction. The union has claimed to have traced details of some individuals from the SSA DMAZ, who undertook the GMS building construction and left it abandoned.

The union urged upon the concerned authorities both in the district and state-levels to urgently meet the demands made by ESSU to punish the culprits and to complete the construction of the GMS building at Viyilho village at the earliest.

The union further warned against any force or individual coming to the rescue of those culprits stating that it would not hesitate to submit the indicated names to the office of the ESSU for further course of action.

It may be mentioned here that ESSU had submitted a representation to the principal director of School Education urging his immediate intervention for early completion of GMS buildings at Ngozubomi, Viyilho, Shevishe and Kelto villages under SDEO Aghunato, which were left abandoned without completion.
