Mokokchung, Oct. 2 (EMN): In its efforts to promote Ao language, Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) conducted an orientation on Ao language competition at Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung, on October 02.
OKM, one of the active students’ organisations in Mokokchung, has been organising various competitions for the past few years to promote and preserve Ao language. The competitions were held among high school students of seventeen villages that fall under the Ongpangkong range.
The competition will be held in various phases for the next three years and the final competition would culminate during the 39
th OKM general conferences scheduled in Kubza village. Limasenla Jamir will be the moderator during the various phases of competitions, while the judges are Sashimeren Jamir, Chubarenla, and Yimzanglula.
Resource person were I Temjen Tzudir, secretary of Ao Senden Literature Board (ASLB), and Dr Lanurenla, assistant professor of Fazl Ali College. Standardisation of Ao spelling and skill as well as methods for writing poetry and short stories were the two topics discussed by the two resource persons respectively.
Earlier, OKM president, Talitemsu Longkumer, delivered the welcome address, while Aso Imsong, convenor of OKM Ao language competition committee, gave a detailed description on how the competitions would be held. Short speeches were also delivered by C Angang Jamir, president of Ongpankong Mungdang and Imtiyapang, NSF general secretary.
