Dimapur, August 29 : Three student bodies have demanded the state government to review the present reservation policy and cautioned that reservation within reservation in professional and technical examinations is a dangerous trend.
In response to the press statement which appeared in the local dailies by some organization, the student bodies intervened in the imbroglio with regard to the NSEE-II selection of MBBS & BDS candidates for the session 2016-17.
A representation to chief minister submitted by Angami Students’ Union president Dievi Yano, Lotha Students’ Union president Amos Odyuo and Ao Students’ Conference president L.Jemti Longchar stated that to provide reservation superseding merit would itself defy logic and the very purpose of medical profession.
“This reservation and quota policy if not reviewed will murder professionalism.”
“We would like to register our dissent on the recent MBBS & BDS issue which has been delayed so far affecting the selected students. We would also like to register our stand that the latest declared result must stand and necessary proceedings be initiated at the earliest so that the students’ careers are not hampered.”
The representation serious viewed that reservation policy ought to be reviewed and re-examined, as it holds no meaning when BT reservation share is actually higher than that of the general category.
“It is our sincere hope that good sense and wisdom shall prevail, so that the issue is not blown out of proportion.”
