Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): Students of the Kohima campus of Nagaland University went on a promotional rally from the campus to the town’s main areas on October 11, in Kohima.
The event aimed at spreading the message of the ban on single-use plastic in Nagaland and to urge people to use paper bags or biodegradable bags as alternatives.
The students conducted the event with activist Gade Ramana Reddy, cyclist, who the note stated has travelled 4500 km in just 25 days covering nine states as part of a campaign against single-use plastic, the updates stated.
A note from the Nagaland University Students’ Union of the campus that was issued on Monday to the media gave details about the event.
‘The rally was successful with cooperation from the students of Nagaland University, Kohima campus, who had a common vision to create a plastic-free state,’ the note stated.
‘The outcome of the rally gained wonderful support. However, we can only hope that people start to realise the importance of limiting plastic use, only then we can truly have a plastic-free future,’ the note stated.
