- DIMAPUR — The
officer on special duty (OSD) to Finance department, Ketoulhou Metha, has
advised the students to use technology mindfully particularly smartphone saying
that it could be a powerful tool for progress when used wisely but also warned
of detrimental effect on its misuse.
- He stated this during the felicitation programme for the
successful students of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination,
organised by the Chiechema Students’ Union (CSU) held at the village council
hall on Saturday. A total of 73 students were felicitated on the occasion.
- While congratulating the students, Metha urged them to be
more specific in their studies by aligning with their interests and life goals,
given the highly competitive environment. He also advised the students to live
a morally upright life and not be swayed by fancy lifestyle through illegal
practices. He also reminded the students to obey their parents and remember
their teachings in order to achieve success in life.

- Metha also reminded the students to prepare themselves well
for any competitive examination stating that political or backdoor appointments
in government sector are not possible now.
- He also cautioned the students to use smartphone wisely for
the right purpose and also asked them to be disciplined with their time, saying
that “good time management is the best asset for a successful life.” He also
encouraged the students to cultivate the habit of reading newspaper and
magazines.
- While reminding on the availability of various options
towards fulfilling one’s aspirations by pursuing entrepreneurship, he
emphasised the importance of excelling in competitive exams like UPSC, NPSC and
NSSB. He further expressed hope that the students would heed to his advice and
become good leaders in the future.
- Also speaking on the occasion, the principal of GHSS
Chiechama, Bithunglo, shared that the school secured 100% pass percentage in
HSLC examinations 2025, while it also secured 96% pass percentage in HSSLC
2025. She informed that the school secured 100% pass percentage in HSLC in the
year 2023 and 2024.
- She informed that the school initially had classes from A to
12. She, however, added due to lack of enrollment in the primary section, the
school currently has classes from 6 to 12 with the total enrollment of 97
students and 28 teaching staff.
- She further mentioned that in 2023, the Samagra Shiksha
under the department of School Education has introduced vocational subjects
such as electronics and hardware for class 9 and later upgraded to class 10 and
11.
- Short speeches were delivered by Khriekesanuo Metha,
Keneisedenuo Theünuo, Ruokuokhrienuo Rio and Vikhotuolie Rüpreo and Mhalezolie
Metha. Songs were also performed by students of Government Higher Secondary
School, Chiechama and Vimenenuo Rüpreo.
- A special prayer for all the students was said by Neizetuo
Benedict Sogotsu, assistant catechist of St. Paul Catholic Church, Chiechama.
