- DIMAPUR — The Eastern Nagaland Students' Union
Chümoukedima (ENSUC), Seyochung Area Students' Union (SASU) and Sangtam
Students' Union Chümoukedima (SSUC), have condemned the May 31 incident at
Ward-9, Chümoukedima, where a minor student was physically and verbally
assaulted by a group of fellow students.
- In a condemnation note, the ENSUC termed the incident as an
affront to the values of dignity, discipline and humanity.
- “It reflects a serious breakdown in student ethics and
social responsibility, and we will not remain silent when injustice is done
especially to a fellow student.
- “We stand in complete solidarity with the Konyak Students'
Union Chümoukedima (KSUC) and fully support their demand that every individual
involved in the so-called ‘Girls’ Gangster’ group submit a personal apology
video and written note with complete personal details by 2nd June 2025, as
discussed in the KSUC meeting held on 1st June 2025,” the union stated.

- The ENSUC also cautioned that if the demand laid out by the
KSUC is not fulfilled within the stated deadline, then the union would be
compelled to initiate strict and appropriate action in coordination with other
student bodies and community stakeholders.
- “We also call upon the school authorities to take firm and
disciplinary action against the students involved. It is time for
accountability not excuses. This is not just about punishment, it is about
setting the right example, protecting the rights of every student, and ensuring
that such acts are never repeated,” the union added.
- Condemning the incident, the Seyochung Area Students' Union
(SASU) stated that it was “deeply shocked, disappointed and angered by the
disturbing behaviour displayed by the students involved.”
- Asserting that acts of violence and humiliation, especially
among the students, are unacceptable and must never be taken lightly, the union
extended full support to the Konyak Students’ Union Chümoukedima and
Chümoukedima Town Students' Union, for speaking out on the issue.
- “We demand that justice be delivered to the victim and that
strict action be taken against all those involved. Such behaviour has no place
in our society or in any educational environment,” the union maintained.
- In a separate press release, the Sangtam Students' Union
Chümoukedima (SSUC) also condemned the “heinous act” of bullying and physical
assault captured in a viral video, where girls were seen verbally abusing and
assaulting another girl.
- “Such behaviour is not only disgraceful but also poses a
threat to the spirit of unity, discipline, and respect that every educational
institution must uphold,” the union stated.
- Asserting that such acts of violence and harassment have no
place in society, especially among students who are supposed to be the
torchbearers of a better tomorrow, the student body called upon the concerned
authorities and educational institutions to take immediate and appropriate
action against those involved and ensure justice for the victim.
- “We also express our unwavering solidarity and support to
all the communities working toward ensuring safety, justice, and dignity for
every student, regardless of tribe, gender, or background,” it stated.
- It may be mentioned that a video circulating widely on
social media on Sunday, showed a student being verbally and physically
assaulted by a group of girls.
- The viral video showed around 9-10 girls surrounding and
physically assaulting another girl, including shoving, hair-pulling, and verbal
abuse.
- Some of the girls were heard using foul language and
threatening to make the video viral.
