KOHIMA/DIMAPUR — Several
student organisations across Nagaland held annual conference in their
respective villages by organising various programmes. The events brought
together students from towns and villages in the celebrations.
KVSU: The Kezoma Village Students' Union (KVSU) held its
56th annual general conference-cum-sports meet on December 28 on the theme
“Inclusive excellence.”
Speaking on the occasion, the director of Technical
Education, Vipulhou Lhoungu, stated that the wealth of a village is not
measured by the quantity or money but by its active and vibrant youth and
students who would become leaders of tomorrow. He, therefore, urged to treasure
the young talents by guiding them on the right path and nurturing them.
Speaking on the theme, he said that inclusivity must
encompass all spheres of life especially in the decision making. He also
advised the students to be humble and added that discipline is important during
student’s life.
The games and sports meet on December 27 was attended by
retired registrar of Horticulture department, Dusahe Noho, as the special
guest.

officials of Wokha Village Students' Union during the platinum jubilee on
December 27.
WVSU: A two-day platinum jubilee of the Wokha Village
Students' Union (WVSU) on the theme ‘Resilience’ concluded on December 28 at
Wokha village playground.
The event was attended by Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA and
chairman of Wokha district planning and development board (DPDB), as the chief
guest and Dr. Chumben Murry, advisor to chief minister and former minister, as
the guest of honour, with Dr. Libemo Kithan, associate professor at Mount Tiyi
College, Wokha, as the theme speaker.
The celebration began with unveiling of the jubilee monolith
by Mhonbemo Humtsoe and dedicated by Rev. O Thungben Kikon, pastor of Wokha
Village Baptist Church. The chief guest also hoisted the WVSU flag, marking the
formal commencement of the celebrations.
In his address, Mhonbemo reflected on the 75-year journey of
WVSU and expressed gratitude for the community's resilience and emphasised the
importance of determination and purpose.
Dr. Chumben Murry commended the union's resilience and
highlighted the significance of self-improvement and skill development, while
Dr. Libemo Kithan elaborated on ‘Resilience,’ stressing the importance of
overcoming challenges.
The union president, Chijamo E Tungoe, highlighted the journey
from its beginning in 1949 to the present time and urged the members to uphold
its values and culture.

of Thetsumi Students' Union during its 61st general session on December 28.
TSU: The Thetsumi Students' Union (TSU) held its 61st
general session on December 28 at Pfutsepa in Thetsumi village on the theme
‘Enabling potentialities.'
An update from the union stated that Dr. Neivetso Venuh,
former pro-vice chancellor of Nagaland University, was the chief guest and his
wife Lochumi Venuh, retired deputy director of Soil and Water Conservation, was
the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering Dr. Venuh emphasised on the
importance of having a clear vision and to be passionate about one’s aspiration
and also to recognise the importance of every task and never to be ashamed of
undertaking small tasks.
He advised the students to wisely utilise their time and
follow their interests and passion rather than solely pursuing the desire of
their parents. He stated that true fulfillment comes from doing what one’s
love.
He further urged to cherish the native village and
contribute to its growth, learn from its traditions actively and preserve one's
culture.
Meanwhile, L Venuh encouraged the students to broaden their
knowledge by learning from their parents as well as learn the basic life skills
such as household chores, gardening, cooking etc rather than solely focusing on
theoretical studies.
She also elaborated the value of natural resources and to
utilise them in ensuring sustainability and long-term wellbeing.
Pfhülo Sara, president of Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU)
shared greetings and appreciated the Thetsumi village for their remarkable
efforts in showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Chakhesang tribe during
the 25th Hornbill Festival 2024.
He also spoke on the importance of dignity of labour and
encouraged the student to hone their skills for meaningful livelihood
opportunities. He further emphasised the importance of mother tongue as an
essential part of cultural heritage.
Chetezo Akami and others during the PSU 66th session on
December 27.
PSU: The Phek Students’ Union (PSU) held its 66th session-
cum-seminar on December 27 in Phek village on the theme “Shaping the future:
Trends and insights for tomorrow.”
Addressing the inaugural session, Chetezo Akami, deputy
chairman of Phek Town Council (PTC), encouraged students to believe in
themselves and grow without distractions. He reminded that everyone is uniquely
gifted and purposefully sent by Almighty God. He also inspired students to
discover their true potential through perseverance, determination and hard
work.
During the seminar, Dr. Muluvesalu Keyho, assistant
professor of Law at RRU, Pasighat Campus, Arunachal Pradesh, spoke on the topic
“Legal rights and gender sensitization,” while Dr. Kuveluzo Chizo, medical
officer at Eden Medical Centre, spoke on “Cultivating excellence: The impact of
hard work, perseverance and informed choices on your career.”
PSU president, Dzuthoku Venuh, delivered the welcome
address, while the chairman of Phek village council, Chivozo Soho, delivered
greetings.
Dignitaries along with Dr. Pritpal Kaur during the 59th
general session of Sakraba Students’ Union on December 27.
SSU: The Sakraba Students’ Union (SSU) held its 59th general
session on December 27 at Sakraba town local ground on the theme “The art of
thriving: weaving life skills.”
The Superintendent of Police, Phek, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, who
was the guest speaker, spoke on overcoming challenges through determination and
perseverance. She emphasised that no job is big or small and that all work hold
value and meaning.
She encouraged the students to remain persistent in chasing
their dreams, stating that with grit and perseverance, they would see their
visions materialised. She also dismissed belief that only those from privileged
backgrounds could achieve success and that girls should confined to household
roles. She urged the audience to break free from such limitations and to
preserve the rich cultural and traditional heritage of their community.
The evening session was attended by Vekhohu Puro, EAC of
Phek, who spoke on various types of competitive examinations and shared his
personal journey of overcoming challenges in his preparation for competitive
exams. He highlighted the importance of prayer and consistency in achieving
success.
A panel discussion was also organised featuring Vekhohu Puro
and Chovelu Cukhamu, secretariat assistant, who shared personal experiences and
advice related to competitive exam preparation.
The 59th general session concluded by reaffirming its
commitment to empowering students through initiatives that inspire personal
growth while preserving cultural values.

Runguzumi SU: Runguzumi Students' Union (RSU) held its 65th
general session on December 28 with Vekhosa Kotso, Deputy Inspector General of
Police (PLG/ Modernisation), as the guest speaker on the theme "Navigating
towards future challenges."
Addressing the gathering, Kotso highlighted the importance
of preparing for the uncertainties ahead and encouraged to cultivate a spirit
of adaptability and develop actionable strategies to tackle them effectively.
According to Kotso, a forward-thinking mindset is essential
for building resilience in a world marked by rapid technological advancements,
social changes and global uncertainties.
He also stressed the value of staying well-informed and
proactive and urged the audience to prioritise collaboration and networking as
tools for growth and problem-solving. He asserted that by fostering strong
connections and engaging with diverse perspectives, individuals could better
navigate the complexities of modern life.
Kotso also encouraged the gathering to adopt a holistic
approach to life, placing equal emphasis on sustainability, long-term impacts
and ethical considerations in decision-making processes.
Meanwhile, he took a moment to honour Rev. Khrutsoyi Luruo,
a pioneering figure in education who played a pivotal role in advancing
educational opportunities in the region by founding one of the first schools in
Phusachodu village.
The police officer further inspired the students, youth and
parents to embrace values of respect, integrity and hard work.
The presidential address was delivered by Besukhoyi Luru-o,
while its former president, Pusalhu Keyho, shared greetings.
Modovi Rhi along with the officials of Razeba Students’
Union during the 40th general session on December 28.
Razeba SU: The Razeba Students’ Union (RSU) held its 40th
general session on December 28 on the theme "Empowering leadership through
education."
The president of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and special
guest, Modovi Rhi, spoke on the importance of putting God first in everything
as well as understanding parents’ sacrifices for their children’s education and
welfare.
He appealed to the student community to honour and obey
their parents and seek their blessings saying that without the blessings of
parents nothing would prosper.
He pointed out that schools should not be an employment
sectors but be a human resources development sector. He also encouraged the
students to preserve the traditional knowledge and practices while promoting
cultural diversity in society.
In conclusion, he challenged the public of Razeba range to
build together and foster the spirit of unity, be it in constructive political
engagement by choosing the right leader.
J Pangao, general secretary of Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me
(PNTM), in his solidarity message, spoke on re-enforcing unity and spirit of
brotherhood between RSU and PNTM.
Deo Movi, president of Razeba Public Organisation (RPO),
encouraged the students to give their best in whatever profession they pursue.
He also challenges the students to give their best in competitive exams.
Rakovi, speaker of Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) shared
greetings.
RSU also nominated new team of office bearers for the tenure
2025-2027 led by Dangao Rume as president, Tsuvi Domeh as vice president,
Muzhirhii Rhi as general secretary, Zengao Zholia as assistant general
secretary, Vikhrelu Venuh as finance secretary, Virelu Pohena as games and
sports secretary, Surhulu Zholia as treasurer, Rhuvine Nukhu as women
coordinator, Vicha Venuh as assistant women coordinator, Pavirhii Krocha as
education secretary, Zipa Zholia as information and publicity secretary, Dungao
Lea as social and cultural secretary, Mure Resuh as library secretary.
It has also nominated Vilu Domeh as speaker, Dupu Krocha as
deputy speaker, Dukhru Lea as assembly secretary, Tavikho Krome as convenor and
Visapa Movi as secretary.
