Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): Khuto Chishi, a class 9 student of Pilgrim Higher Secondary School at Kuda-B, Dimapur, won the first prize in a project work at the “Yuva Vigyani Karyakram” (YUVIKA) or “Young Scientist Programme,” organised by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) held from May 16 to the 28th.

Khuto Chishi was the only student selected from Nagaland to take part along with the 150 selected students across the country. He received a citation, participation certificate, a tablet and study materials for his project work, an update from the school stated.

ISRO organised a special programme ‘YUVIKA’ for school children to impart basic knowledge on space technology, space science and space applications to young students, especially for those from rural areas. The programme was aimed at creating awareness about the emerging trends in science and technology among the youngsters, who are the "future building blocks of our nation."

The programme at ‘YUVIKA’ included talks, experience-sharing by eminent scientists, experimental demonstration, facility and lab visits, exclusive sessions of discussions with experts, practical and feedback sessions.

Report added that the programme was held at five ISRO centres namely at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram; UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru; Space Application Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad; National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad; and North-East Space Application Centre (NE-SAC), Shillong.
