- DIMAPUR — The
Sütsa Academy, a centre for teaching and learning the Sümi language, was
inaugurated at Mt. Olive College, Kohima, on March 26.
- According to an update, speaking at the programme, the
chairman of the Sümi Literature Board (SLB), Vihoshe Muru, lauded the governing
body and the entire fraternity of Mt. Olive College, Kohima (MOCK), for taking
such bold and positive initiatives in establishing the Sütsa Academy.
- Muru said it is a red-letter day for MOCK, where the Sütsa
(Sümi language) will grow to another level of excellence, as the purpose of the
academy is to preserve and promote the Sümi language and its literature. Muru
further encouraged the students to take a keen interest in learning the Sümi
language, as it is our identity (Sütsa no Sümi Jumichi).
- The chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sümi Baptist Church
Kohima (SBCK), Lukheto Yeptho, said that having the Sütsa Academy at this
crucial juncture in the college is a much-needed initiative, not only for the
student community but also for those who desire to learn the Sümi language.

- Earlier, while chairing the programme, the chairman and
managing director of MOCK, K Shiwoto Wotsa, highlighted the aims and objectives
of the newly established academy and informed the gathering that the Sütsa
Academy is an integral part of MOCK and will function under the guidance of the
Sümi Literature Board.
- He also said that the academy is not only for the Sümis but
is open to anyone who desires to learn the Sümi language and its heritage.
- The programme was attended by SLB members, the governing
body and staff of MOCK, pastors (SBCK), Sütsa teachers, and students.
