Kohima, April 17 (EMN): The people of Sakraba village in Phek district woke up to ‘strong winds coupled with rain’ on Wednesday morning.
According to Village Council Chairman Nerayi D Vadeo, strong winds mixed with rain hit the village at around 6:30 am on April 17, damaging houses, and uprooting electricity poles and trees; which blocked roads and water pipelines.
Veyozo, a resident of Sakraba village, informed that the wind damaged as many as 17 houses in the village. But there was no human casualty, he added.
The villagers are trying to restore the damage caused by the wind but they are helpless when it comes to restoration of electricity as the main power lines are cut off, he said.
The villagers have appealed to the state government to look into the matter.
