Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Street King’s Club (SKC), Dimapur, is all set to organise its third edition autocross and sprint challenge on September 30 and October 1.
This was announced by the club president Vika H Chishi during a press conference held at Bamboosa Resort on Friday. Chishi said the event comprising of three categories - rookie, SUV and open-will be held at Vihokhu village.
He said the sole purpose of the event is to promote autocross sports in the region as even though there are many talents in the region, they do not get the proper platform or recognition from the government.
He also said that through this event they want to challenge the people, especially the younger generation, that instead of show casing their passion for speed on the roads and highways, a menace which causes accidents, they should come on the track where people will applaud and appreciate their skills and talent.
In the previous editions, the events were was held at Agri Expo and Khehoi village, but this time they wanted to venture out more and so opted for Vihokhu village which, in a way, will also promote the natural beauty of the state, Chishi said.
The club’s general secretary Tomito V Shohe disclosed that more than 60 participants from the different North-east states are expected to take part in this year’s editon.
Registration fee for rookie and SUV will be INR 6000 each and for open category INR 8000 and registration will close on September 29.
Out of the total prize money INR 2.55 lakh, the first prize for rookie and SUV categories will be INR 30,000 each and INR 20,000 and INR 10,000 for second and third positions respectively.
The first prize for open category will be INR 50, 000, second INR 35,000, third INR 25,000, fourth INR 15,000 and fifth INR 10,000.
Shohe also lamented that though the club has been participating in events all over Northeast region and brought laurels to the state, yet but they were not given proper recognition by the state government.
In Nagaland there are many capable and talented drivers who can even represent the state and the nation at all levels, provided they get support from the government, he added.
