Our Correspondent Kohima, May 9 (EMN): Heavy rains and hailstorm lashed across different parts of the state Tuesday evening, including Kohima. Although no major damage was reported, several private vehicles parked alongside the corner of a government establishment in the State capital were said to have been damaged partially as the storm brought down part of a retaining wall. The heavy rains also washed down garbage, clogging drains, thereby making drainage water as well as waste materials overflow on to the road in many parts of the town. When contacted, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) OSD, Johnny Ruangmei said NSDMA teams were assessing the situation. He informed that moderate to thunderstorms are expected in the state during the next few days. He also said the state was getting normal rainfall but due to erratic nature of rain, the recent rainfall volume was higher and the impact was stronger.
