Four persons have been arrested and several vehicles reported lost have been recovered by Kohima police authorities during various incidences around Dimapur on October 16. The capital’s police establishment issued a press release on Saturday informing about the arrest.
On October 16, Kohima police personnel were on routine patrol when they found a Tata Sumo bearing the registration NL02T-1513, chassis number of MAT446502DEN01192 and engine number of 497SPTC43KWY652168, from Kohima town. The vehicle was reported stolen in a North Lakhimpur police station case under Lakhimpur in Assam, the police said.
“The officer-in-charge of North Lakhimpur P.S is intimated through inter-state wireless transmission to claim the stolen and recovered vehicle from Kohima Police with all relevant vehicle documents and court orders. The original registration number of the said stolen vehicle is ascertained as AS12AC-1236 according to the official records,” the press release stated.
In another case, a Mahindra Bolero bearing the registration number NL-07C-3597 was intercepted at Peducha police check gate near Kohima town on October 10 during routine frisking by enforcement personnel.
The police disclosed in the press release: “On verification, it was found that the registration number NL-07C-3597 is allotted to Maruti Omni Van by DTO Dimapur. Accordingly the records were further verified from the NCRB database and ascertained that the Bolero was stolen from Assam in the year 2014 and wanted in connection with Basistha P.S case No. 0902/2014, Guwahati, Assam.”
In this connection, the driver of the vehicle identified as Kayeto Aye, a 34 year old from Atoizu village in Zunheboto district was arrested for possession of stolen property and fictitious registration number.
A regular case vide Sechü(Zubza) PS Case No. 0035/15 U/S 379/463/464 is registered against him for further investigation,” the police said.
“The officer-in-charge of Basistha P.S is intimated through inter-state wireless transmission to claim the stolen and recovered vehicle from Kohima Police with all relevant vehicle documents and court orders. The original registration number of the said stolen vehicle is ascertained as AS-06K-1646, Chassis No. MA1PS2GHKB5F82851, Engine No. GHB4F60070 according to the official records,” the police said.
In a similar case, this one on October 9, Kohima police manning Phesama check gate during routine frisking and checking of vehicles, stopped another Bolero Pick-Up bearing the registration AS01FC-5032, chassis number MA1ZN2GAKE1C34047 and engine number GHE1C26495. The vehicle was stopped on suspicion.
“In the process of verification, the occupants could not produce valid vehicle documents,” the police said.
All the three occupants were arrested. They have been identified as one Aminuel Islam, a 24-year-old man from Satrakanara village in Barpeta district of Assam, Irengban Sonand Singh, a 38 -year-old man from Naran Konjin village (Makha Leikai) from Imphal West of Manipur, and W Surjit Singh, a 40 -year-old man from Oinam Sawanting village in Thoubal district of Manipur. “In this connection a regular case vide Kohima South P.S case No. 0110/2015 U/S 379/34 IPC is registered against them for conducting further investigation,” the police said.
In another case, this time on October 10, Kohima police personnel manning the Khuzama interstate police check gate seized a Bolero bearing the registration NL01C-9123, chassis number MA1PL2GAK92C80845 and engine number GA94C53361 “which is suspected to be stolen since, the driver was unable to produce valid documents.”
“On further verification, it was found that the registration No. NL01C-9123 is allotted by DTO Kohima to another Bolero and not to the one that has been seized,” the police said.
