A stolen Kohima taxi hijacked at gunpoint near Viswema has been recovered abandoned in Manipur’s Senapati district.

KOHIMA — Days after a local taxi was snatched at gunpoint near Viswema village in Kohima district, the stolen vehicle has been recovered from Senapati district in neighbouring Manipur.
Confirming the development to Eastern Mirror on Thursday, Additional Superintendent of Police and Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Kohima Police, K Soriso Quinker, said that the vehicle was found abandoned in Senapati and later towed to the local police station after no one came forward to claim it.
He informed that Kohima Police are coordinating with their counterparts in Senapati to facilitate the recovery and return of the vehicle.

The robbery took place on the evening of July 21, between 4 and 4.30 pm. A local taxi, bearing registration number NL01T-A0183, was reportedly hijacked at gunpoint below Viswema village, between Viswema and Kidima.
The driver, a non-Naga, recounted the incident to the media on Wednesday. He said that his vehicle was hired and taken via Zero Point Chakhabama to a river below Viswema, where one of three assailants grabbed him by the neck and pulled him out of the car.
According to the victim, one of the miscreants drove the vehicle away while another held him at gunpoint, forcing him to the ground before fleeing.
