Dimapur, Dec. 18 (EMN): Nagaland’s weekly sample positivity rate slightly increased from 0.4% to 0.5% following 19 Covid-19 cases reported last week ending December 17 compared to 16 infections in the previous week.
Dimapur accounted for nine cases, Kohima- 9, Mokokchung- 2 and Zunheboto- 1, according to the weekly bulletin of the state Health department’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
The state reported two Covid-19 deaths, one each from Dimapur and Mokokchung, last week while there was no fatality in the week before. As many as five new hospital admissions were registered during the week against three in the previous week.
The weekly bulletin also informed that a total of 13.27 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the state till date.
Further, it stated that in the wake of the new emerging variant -- Omicron (B11159) -- citizens should follow the Covid-19 preventive measures such as getting vaccinated at the earliest to prevent hospitalisations and deaths.
“Vaccines are very effective against circulating variants like Delta and expected to be effective against severe disease and deaths by Omicron VOC,” it read.
The department also advised compulsory wearing of masks in public places and to prevent overcrowding in any social, religious, or political gathering to avoid super spreader events.
The total number of Covid-19 cases has increased to 32, 169 with four more fresh infections detected on Saturday, while the active caseload rose to 84.
The state’s cumulative recoveries have increased to 30,315 with recovery of three patients in Dimapur while the death toll remained unchanged at 685 with no fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.
According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, two positive cases were reported in Mokokchung and one each in Dimapur and Kohima.
Out of 84 active cases in the state, 68 are asymptomatic, 15 mild and one in ICU on ventilator.
