Dimapur, Sep. 19 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has donated a sum of INR one lakh to the Government Hindi Institute in Dimapur to establish awards for meritorious students. The governor announced this during an interaction with the principal and officials from the only government Hindi institute in Nagaland, at the Raj Bhavan on September 19.
The public relations cell of the Raj Bhavan issued a press release informing about the event.
The governor appreciated the teachers and officials of the institute for imparting training to pre-service indigenous Naga candidates ‘for Hindi teaching,’ the press release began. “He opined that all languages were equal and stated that our Mother Tongue is our identity and we should respect all languages.”
The governor congratulated the institute and encouraged its teachers to continue working toward linking the people of the country through the national language. Likewise, Acharya acknowledged the ‘keen interest taken by the Nagas in learning the language.’
The principal of the Hindi institute, Gulab Chandra, informed the governor that the institute was established in 1968. It is all set to celebrate its golden jubilee in the month of November this year, the statement read. According to the updates, ‘He also stated that the staffing pattern is managed by the department of School Education, Nagaland while its curriculum was affiliated with Central Institute of Hindi Agra since its inception.’
Chandra highlighted the institution’s infrastructure, stating that it was in urgent need of a ‘proper building with class rooms, office and toilets as the present building is in a very bad shape.’
The institution has requested the governor’s assistance in constructing a new building for the institute. Governor Acharya assured to take the matter to the authorities in concern, the updates stated.
