Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): A number of officers from the medical establishment visited Phek district recently to inspect infrastructure including a school of nursing. A press release from the organisers on Sunday informed that the visiting team included Dr. Vikieyie Losou, principal director of Health & Family Welfare; Dr. Vizolie, director of Health and project director; Dr. Thanghoi, state program officer of the National Health Mission; and Moanaro, executive engineer of the medical engineering wing. They inspected new buildings which will soon be inaugurated, and a school of nursing, hospital sites, and the chief medical officer’s office etc., the updates stated.
The officers are said to have conducted a meeting with program officers and staffs from all the programs in the district. Dr. Tiala Longkumer, medical superintendent of “DH Phek” briefed the team about the district’s requirements for more manpower such as gynaecologists, anaesthetists and eye specialists etc.
During the meeting, the officers are said to have appreciated ‘the coordination among the staffs’ and were ‘encouraged to see the hospital’s fraternity making use of the resources in developing the structure of DH up to the standard.’ The officers also informed that process to post a gynaecologist was in process.
The visiting officers also assured to address the requirements in civil work at the new ‘DH building,’ besides repairing ambulances there at the earliest.
Another officer, Dr. Thanghoi also requested the medical superintendent to crosscheck reports before sending ‘in order to avoid any errors.’ He was stated to have said that the district’s requirements will be addressed based on district’s performance. Also, he spoke on the importance of following hospital protocols, the updates stated.
District Immunization Officer Dr. Kolhitso Khalo also briefed the team about the status of the ‘district MRVC’ and the constraints and challenges ‘during the campaign.’
The team assured that the ‘district challenges’ will be discussed with the medical officers and program officers for a ‘new strategy to boost the district’s performance.’
