The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) sincerely appreciates the United Naga Council, Manipur for facilitating the release of 14 Kuki hostages on 9th June 2026. This act reflects the true Naga character of compassion, justice, and mature Christian witness. It shows that even in times of conflict, the values taught by Christ — forgiveness, mercy, and respect for human life — must guide us.
While extending our deep appreciation and admiration to the UNC, the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum join the rest of the community who find themselves at lost and strongly condemn the barbaric killing of six innocent persons from Naga communities by elements from Kuki communities.
Our hearts grief and as human, we cannot fathom the pain the families of victims are going through. In such a time as this, we can only turn to God to seek comfort and solace and pray for those who are deeply hurt that they will find their peace, comfort and solace in God and God alone.
The taking of any human life is not only against the teachings of Scripture but also the Naga customary values of protecting the vulnerable. We cannot and must not allow ourselves to sink deeper. The blaming game, the lies and the false narratives must find an end in this unfortunate tragedy. We must stop shedding the innocent blood at to further the cause of any particular community. If we cannot establish brotherhood we are doomed and the innocent will always suffer.

Six abducted Naga men dead, UNC confirms
We must begin to bind the deep wounds by coming out fearlessly and meet each other face to face. Reason must precedes emotion and honesty must destroy falsehood. We must ask: how long will the innocents from both side of the community suffer? We must come out clean and level ourselves with each other and seek forgiveness so that true reconciliation can take its rightful place between communities so that the cause of each other can be pushed forward.
In light of these painful events, the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum earnestly appeals to both Nagas and Kukis to come forward in the spirit of understanding and openly dialogue and seek true Christian reconciliation. If we cannot reason together and see each other eye to eye to level our differences, we are no better than senseless creatures. May God help us navigate our path to reach out to each other.
As followers of Christ, we are called to be peacemakers. Reconciliation through forgiveness and mutual respect is the only path that honours God and allows both communities to live together in peace, dignity, and brotherhood.
Let us choose the path of healing over hatred, and unity over division, so that future generations may inherit a land of peace.
The NJCF appeal to the Manipur government and the Central Government to take this matter seriously and impartially to deal with the situation with all seriousness. It is the bonded duty of the government to establish law and order situation in the state. The government cannot remain neutral trying to please everyone when law and order has collapsed. Manipur is bleeding and yet the attitude of the government has become indifferent. It barks only when you see a shadow of disturbances around but are afraid to jump in to deal with the situation. If what is happening in Manipur is not the collapsed of law and order, what is it and what good is the government which expects the civil organisations to act on their behalf to broker peace?
The NJCF would like to remind the government that this is not the time to be sitting on your comfortable chairs while innocents are tortured, murdered kidnapped. Have you seen mothers, brothers, sisters and children crying in the streets?
You must resolved the situation with utmost urgency. The central government must hold the State of Manipur accountable and take the situation seriously. Come and play your politics in our region. The real battlefield lies here!
