Dimapur, May 13 (EMN): As per assessment of Youth Net, skilled workers from Assam, Bengal, Orissa and Bangladesh will overtake Nagaland by 2030 and according to National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Nagaland will fall short of skilled Naga youth. This was expounded by YouthNet Director Lezo Putsure at a seminar organised by East Dimapur Sumi Youth Organisation in collaboration with YouthNet on May 13 on the theme “Mülah no Chuni” (Work and Eat) held at East Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church, Purana Bazaar. Addressing the Sumi students’ community on the topic “Career guidance and entrepreneurship,” the YouthNet director reminded that Nagaland for the last eight years have not witnessed any IAS successful candidate while there are thousands of Naga youth seeking coaching in various parts of the country.
Presenting data on Nagaland’s present scenario where there are 120000 government employees with 12,000 graduates and 1, 60,000 unemployed youth, he pointed out that State government sector has reached a saturation point. He encouraged the youth especially those unemployed to take advantage of the opportunity and venture into business. He also reminded the students that Nagaland will witness more inflow of youth from outside who will outnumber the Naga youth thereby leaving excess of Naga youth without skill.
According to data furnished by Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), 1300 aspirants vied for 130 post in 2011, while in 2012 a total 14,371 Naga youth contested for 110 posts, and in 2013 a total 12,900 contested for 73 posts. In 2014 12,631 contested for 70 posts, and in 2015, a total 15,196 youth contested for 110 posts, and in 2016 a total 13,593 contested for 73 posts. The data was made available by the Youth Net Director Putsure.
According to Putsure, Ao community constituted 21.93%, Angami community constituted 15.70%, Lotha community constituted 12.66%, Sumi community constituted 10.44% and the Chakhesang community constituted 8.41% in government sector since 2001 to 2015.
“Business is an opportunity and for every complaints that we make is an opportunity for us to progress and explore,” he persuaded. He concluded by saying that entrepreneurship is not a problem but a window to create opportunity, make money, impact and help people by creating opportunities.
Manager of Nagaland Job Centre Operations Razouvikhol Luho also imparted on youth employment readiness programme, promoting private sector employment and various job opportunities in Nagaland and other cities.
