State-wide mass social work conducted across Nagaland

DIMAPUR — A state-wide mass social work initiated by the government of Nagaland was conducted across multiple districts on Wednesday.


In Dimapur, the social work was led by Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, deputy commissioner of Dimapur, along with administrative officers, government employees, and volunteers from various departments, civil society organisations, and village councils.


According to a DIPR report, participants cleared roadside debris and cleaned public spaces and market areas. The deputy commissioner appreciated the participation of all stakeholders and encouraged the continuation of such community-led initiatives to keep Dimapur clean and beautiful.


In Chümoukedima, DC Polan John led a joint inspection along National Highway 29 up to the Chathe River Bridge during the district-wide mass social work. The initiative saw active participation from government departments, the Chümoukedima Town Council, civil society organisations, and the general public.


Mass social work in the Medziphema sub-division commenced at 6:30 am. The activities included removing building materials stacked on the roadside, demolishing latrines and pigsties discharging waste on roadsides, and clearing vegetation along highways.

Dividers along the Dimapur–Kohima route were cleaned. A team comprising the EAC Medziphema, principal of IETC, and director of SAMETI Medziphema oversaw the event.


In Mokokchung, various departments participated in the mass social work organised under directives from the Home department, as part of the preparations for the upcoming festive season.


The activities in Mon included removing building materials from roadsides, clearing drainage systems, and cleaning weeds. Shopkeepers were advised to install proper signboards with lighting and to repaint their shops.


Similar mass social work activities were also carried out in the Longleng and Meluri districts, as well as in the Chiephobozou and Tizit sub-divisions.
