Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): Nagaland State Veterinary Council (NSVC) has announced to observe the World Veterinary Day on April 28 on the theme “The role of veterinary profession in sustainable development to improve livelihoods, food security and safety.”
The World Veterinary Association had decided to observe the World Veterinary Day in 2000 as an annual celebration of the veterinary profession falling on the last Saturday of April. The day is considered significant with the challenges the profession has to face in taking care of the diseases, which are transmitted to human being through animals.
As large scale population constituting the farmers depended on animals in sustaining their livelihood, additional director of animal husbandry and veterinary services and president of Nagaland state veterinary council, Dr. Aomangyang Walling, stated that awareness programme of keeping proper health care through meat products cannot be over emphasised. At the same time, he stated that the love for animals and cruelty to animals should be of great concern for the veterinary professionals.
On behalf of the Nagaland state veterinary council, he has wished a happy Veterinary Day to all the veterinary professionals.
