Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): State will be observing World No Tobacco Day under the theme “Tobacco – A threat to Development,” on May 31.
Kohima will be observing the day at Capital Convention Centre, near Secretariat Complex, Kohima at 12 noon, with Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education & Technical Education, Deo Nukhu as chief guest. Short speeches will be delivered by DC & chairman DLCC Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS and Sievituo Solo, Ambassador for Tobacco Smoke Free Kohima. The programme will be chaired by Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Menukhol John.Dimapur will also observe the day at Salesian College Auditorium, Dimapur with Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, IAS and Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Keynote address will be delivered by District Tobacco Control Cell Dimapur Dr. C. Tetso. District Public Relation Office, Dimapur will also screen anti-tobacco documentaries, at strategic locations (City Tower, Marwari Patti) to create awareness amongst the public.
Dr. C Tetseo has requested the schools to send the activity report to DTCC or whatsapp to Tobacco Free Institution group.
