Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): Nagaland is scheduled to observe the 9th National Voter’s Day on the theme “No voter to be left behind" on January 25 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima, with the state chief secretary, R Binchilo Thong, as the chief guest.
A DIPR report stated that the deputy chief electoral officer, Vekho Vero, would deliver the welcome address while speech on perspective and background would be delivered by the chief electoral officer, Abhijit Sinha. Chairperson of Youth Net, Hekani Jakhalu would share on 'My vision for a clean election,' while screening of flash mob of videos on clean election would be presented by additional chief electoral officer (CEO), N Moa Aier.
It stated that the cultural club of Kohima Chungtia Telongjem would present cultural presentation, while the District Icon, Kohima, Thejakhrieno Nakhro would deliver short speech on "Role of youth in clean election."
CEO, Abhijit Sinha, would present EPICS and NVD badges to new voters. Deputy CEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie would deliver the message of Chief Election Commissioner. Deputy commissioner and district election officer, Kohima, Thejawelie Gregory, would chair the programme.
Meanwhile, Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed all officers and staff in government departments of the state to take the National Voter’s Day pledge on January 25 for promotion of democratic electoral participation in their respective offices preferably around 11 am.
National Voter’s Day is celebrated all over the country on January 25 to register the newly eligible young (18+) in the electoral roll and also to promote electoral participation.
It has directed to submit report along with photos to the office of the chief electoral officer, Nagaland, for onward submission to the Commission.
