Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): Nagaland’s establishment of elections has offered updates about work and preparations concerning the forthcoming parliamentary and assembly constituency polls in the state. The government’s publicity agency, the Information and Public Relations (IPR), issued updates on Saturday.
According to the IPR, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Abhijit Sinha has requested the security agencies in the state to “enhance their vigil.” The security establishments were requested to also “take all security measures to improve the overall environmental security.”
Also, the CEO informed that the districts have been instructed to complete the distribution of photo voter’s slip immediately and to submit the report to the CEO’s office at the earliest.
The IPR has also reported that the election’s Special Expenditure Observer DD Goel has left for Arunachal Pradesh after reviewing election expenditure monitoring measures in the state.
“He has given instructions to all the nodal officers involved in the election expenditure monitoring to make the whole system more effective, and accordingly asked them to take necessary steps,” the IPR stated.
Likewise, the CEO informed that the secretary for Social Welfare, Sarah R Ritse, who has been appointed “accessibility observer,” was currently touring the districts to get first-hand information about various accessibility measures being made for people with disability, in the district polling stations.
Press conference on April 8
The election authorities of the state will be conducting a press conference on April 8, the CEO’s establishment informed in a note that was issued to the media on Saturday.
The CEO; returning officer for Nagaland parliamentary constituency; and the state police’s nodal officer will be holding a press conference at Hotel Japfü, in Kohima. The time of the conference is from 4:00 pm on in connection with general elections to the Lok Sabha, the IPR stated.
Print and electronic media personnel in the state are requested to attend the press conference.
